Olympic Torch Posters

The Town of Lakeshore received a number of posters designed by children from Comber Centennial and Pavillon des Jeunes schools. We would like to thank everyone who created a poster; it was a very difficult decision to pick winners as we felt all posters were created with great Olympic ideas. Thank you to all the children and join us in Comber Dec. 23 at 8:00 a.m. to see the Olympic Torch Relay (relay begins promptly at 8:30 at the Royal Bank). Afterwards, stop in at the Comber Hall for a visit with Santa and pancake breakfast (with food bank donation). We will display all of the children's wonderful posters at the hall. Hope to see you there.

911 Street Naming Project - Phase 2

The final phase, Phase 2 is now complete. Residents are encouraged to complete the change of their address as soon as possible before the complimentary forwarding of mail by Canada Post ends.

The names for Phase 2 were approved by Council at the June 16th Council meeting.  Phase 2 Street Names

Residents should be in the process of changing your address. Canada Post will only forward mail for 6 months.

Maps: East (former Tilbury North/West)           West (former Maidstone and Belle River)

Phase 2 encompasses the following areas:

  • Rochester Townline to the eastern border of the municipality (Kent Road 1)and

  • The northern shore from County Road 42 to Lake St. Clair (bounded by Manning Road to the West and the eastern end of the former Belle River)

Letters to residents directly affected by Phase 2 have been mailed out.

As with Phase 1, we notified agencies to provide them with the address change information. You will still be required to notify the agencies to change your mailing (they sometimes refer to it as billing) address. We have found the agencies (such as Union Gas) keep two databases for their systems - one for where the bills are mailed to and one for the property where the service is located (in case they are different). Rest assured we are providing the main office of these agencies with the information and requesting they communicate this to their call centres (these days they can be located in different municipalities).

Emergency services (Police, Fire and Ambulance) request that if you call during the changeover, you state that you are part of Phase 2 of the street re-naming project for Lakeshore.

List of Current Street Names in Lakeshore - 911 Street Naming Project - Phase 2

Street Name Request Form - We welcome submissions for Phase II of this project. Feel free to bring completed forms to the municipal office or email them to email address above. Names will be reviewed when we begin this phase.

Address Change Checklist - use this list as a guideline for the businesses or organizations you have to notify.

Voice over Internet Protocol - this document provides a background and tips if you are using this sort of phone service.

Phase 1

The first phase of this project which involved the rural areas of the municipality from Manning Road to Rochester Townline is now complete. See the map below for details on the roads identified for changes. Please ensure you have changed your address as Canada Post has discontinued the free forwarding of mail.

Final Street Name Map for Phase 1 - This map identifies all of the new street names for phase 1.

List of old and new street addresses - Phase 1

Phase 1 letters regarding the new street names and dates for changes have been mailed out. If you have any renewals such as licenses, passport, etc. you can change them using your new address even if it is before the date on the letter. The date indicates when the street sign will be changed. We recommend you bring a copy of the letter with you when making these changes.

The Town of Lakeshore is working with Canada Post regarding the changes to addresses. Do not change your address until you receive a letter identifying your new street name or address. At that time, notify your post office and obtain additional Change of Mailing address courtesy cards. The changes are taking place throughout the month of August. Bring your letter with you to the Post Office for verification. You may want to have a copy of your letter with you when you visit other offices for the address change as well.

The changes will not appear on the Canada Post website until after September 12, 2008.

Your 9-1-1 and service address has been updated with Bell Canada. If your billing address differs from your service address, you are asked to contact 310-BELL to ensure that your billing address remains unchanged. Bell Canada will be making changes to their system to input the new street name during the week indicated on your letter. They must ensure they coordinate with the change for 911 emergency purposes. You may want to wait until the week indicated on your letter to notify Bell.

If you have any questions, contact the Municipal office at 519-728-2700 or via email at rarsenault@lakeshore.ca.

As part of this project, the Town of Lakeshore is asking residents to help us select names for some of the streets. Please see the Street Naming Policy for guidelines in suggesting names and complete the Street Name Request Form. Although we have completed the name selection for Phase 1 of this project, we are accepting names for Phase 2. Please feel free to submit names for Phase 2 and we will review them when we begin that phase of the project.
