The municipal Election will take place on Monday October 27th, 2014.
The Town of Lakeshore Council consists of eight members: Mayor, Deputy Mayor and one Councillor for each of the six wards.

2014 MUNICIPAL ELECTION

NOTICE is hereby given to the Municipal Electors of the TOWN OF LAKESHORE
That Nominations will be accepted for the offices of:
Mayor ONE to be elected at large
Deputy Mayor ONE to be elected at large
Ward 1 ONE to be elected
Ward 2 ONE to be elected
Ward 3 ONE to be elected
Ward 4 ONE to be elected
Ward 5 ONE to be elected
Ward 6 ONE to be elected
Information related to nominations for school board trustees will be provided at a later date
Every person who proposes to submit their name for the above noted offices shall file with the Clerk of the Town of Lakeshore, nominations on the prescribed form and accompanied by the prescribed nomination filing fee, $200.00 for the office of Mayor and $100.00 for all other offices.
Nomination forms are available on our website or at the office of the Clerk and must be signed by the candidate and filed in person during regular business hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., commencing January 2, 2014 until September 12, 2014 (Nomination Day), at 2:00 p.m.
The Town of Lakeshore will once again be utilizing the Vote by Mail system for the October 27, 2014 Municipal Election. Voting kits will be mailed out to qualified electors on or about the 1st of October, 2014. If you want to make sure your name is on the electors list contact the town hall office at 519 728 2700.

Eligibility to Vote
To be an eligible elector in the Town of Lakeshore, you have to be:
- A Canadian Citizen
- At least 18 years old
- Reside in the Town of Lakeshore or be the owner or tenant of land in the Town of Lakeshore; and
- Not prohibited from voting under any law.

Expenses for Candidates
An expense shall not be incurred by or on behalf of a person unless he or she is a candidate and shall not be incurred by or on behalf of a candidate outside his or her election campaign period. A candidate's campaign period begins on the day his/her nomination is filed and ends on Voting Day. During the campaign period, a candidates expenses shall not exceed the spending limits provided by the Municipal Elections Act as follows:
- Head of Council ($7,500.00 plus $.85 per elector)
All Other Candidates ($5,000.00 plus $.85 per elector)
The electors are determined based in the Voter's list as it exists on Nomination Day. A preliminary notice will be delivered to each candidate, advising of the maximum campaign expenses for their respective nominated office. A final notice of maximum campaign expenses will be given to each candidate prior to September 22,2014.
Please note there are new ward boundaries for Wards 1 through 5.
