Invest WindsorEssex

Invest WindsorEssex is the regional economic development organization that represents all of Essex County including Lakeshore, Windsor, Tecumseh, Amherstburg, LaSalle, Essex, Kingsville, Leamington, and Pelee Island. Many projects that are locating in Lakeshore will be also working with staff from Invest WindsorEssex. IWE has four divisions with the following specializations:

  • Business Retention and Expansion Division: focused primarily on growth and expansion of industrial and large commercial business
  • Automobility and Innovation: advanced manufacturing; education; future mobility; digital and manufacturing innovation
  • Investment Attraction and Corporate Marketing: foreign direct investment and regional branding
  • Small Business and Entrepreneurship: starting and growing small business 

Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island 

Responsible for regional tourism destination development and marketing, Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island (TWEPI) is a connection to make for businesses that primarily serve patrons or offer unique experiences that could draw local residents or our of town visitors to the establishment.

Ministry of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada

Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) works with Canadians in all areas of the economy and in all parts of the world to improve conditions for investment, enhance Canada's innovation performance, increase Canada's share of global trade and build a fair, efficient and competitive marketplace. 

Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FED DEV)

Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario) delivers programs and services to support innovation and economic growth in southern Ontario. When appropriate scale and scope of project is proposed, Lakeshore Economic Development and Mobility will engage with Federal representatives.

Invest in Canada 

Invest in Canada is the Federal Government's investment attraction agency and works primarily with large scale foreign direct investment projects.

Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade

The Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade (MEDJCT)is the Provincial ministry responsible for supporting a strong, innovative economy in Ontario. 

Ontario Centre of Innovation 

OCI helps Ontario innovators get connected with the researchers, industry partners and funding needed to commercialize the next generation of made-in-Ontario IP and Solutions. 

Invest Ontario 

Invest Ontario is the Provincial Government's investment attraction agency. When appropriate scale and scope is proposed, Lakeshore Economic Development and Mobility will engage with the Provincial representatives.  


Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce 

With a thousand members located throughout Essex County, the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce (WERCC) is the key connector and advocate for the long-term business success of its members. 


Belle River on the Lake BIA 

Located in the Community of Belle River, the Belle River on the Lake BIA strives to help businesses thrive through business leadership, partnerships and connections, and events and promotion.
