Water Meters:
Please be advised that it is the permit holder’s responsibility to have the water meter installed at the property. To make an appointment to receive a water meter, contact the EIS department at 519-728-2488 option #2 (Water Operations). The meter will be distributed from the Lakeshore Operations Centre located at 304 Rourke Line.
Note: There is a limit of four (4) meters that can be picked up at one time.
Water Billing:
New Builds
Following a water tap-in the property owner has ninety (90) days to successfully complete a water meter inspection to be set up for regular water billing. If after ninety (90) days the inspection has not been completed, flat rate billing will be charged as per the tariff of fees and continue to until the inspection has been completed.
Existing Water Service
Once a water meter has been received the property owner has ninety (90) days to successfully complete a water meter inspection to be set up for regular water billing. If after ninety (90) days the inspection has not been completed, flat rate billing will be charged as per the tariff of fees and continue until the inspection has been completed.
Water Meter Replacement
The Municipality of Lakeshore is replacing water meters across the municipality.
Replacing the old style water meter with the new one will make reading your meter more efficient. The new meters will provide the infrastructure in support of new equipment and software to enhance the Town's customer service. Automatic meter readers are becoming more common in municipalities and provide the necessary information to support water conservation and prevent excessive consumption leading to higher than normal water bills.
Meter Replacement Letter
The Town is working across the municipality one area at a time to complete these changes. Customer's will receive a letter in the mail with the details of the replacement and the requirement to book an appointment by a certain date.
If no response to this letter by the deadline:
- The Town will deliver a shut off notice and the customer will have fourteen (14) days to book an appointment for the replacement.
- If there is no response in fourteen (14) days the customer's water will be shutoff.

Our procedures are in accordance with By-Law 97-2004 which states that the Town shall be granted access to the meter for repairs and replacement.
