A special tree branch pickup has been underway in Lakeshore since March 4. Municipal staff and contractors have completed picking up and processing branches through a woodchipper in urban areas.
Starting the week of March 13, branch cleanup as a result of the ice storm will get underway on Lakeshore’s rural roads. If your branches are out as of today, they will be picked up. Residents do not need to call in for this service. If you are a resident living on a county road and your branches have not been picked up after the County of Essex has completed its cleanup, Lakeshore will provide this service. Please be advised that it could take several weeks before pickup is completed on all remaining roads.
Residents are asked to leave branches and limbs unbundled (no strings or wire) and manageable for ease of access. Please ensure that piles of branches do not interfere with driveways, sidewalks, or winter control operations. Due to the extent of this cleanup service, crews will be unable to clean up small debris that cannot be chipped. Smaller limbs can be saved for yard waste collection dates coming up in April.
Residents are reminded to consult the Municipal Collection Calendar or the RecycleCoach app for yard waste collection details. Yard waste collection begins on April 22 in Area 1 and on April 29 in Areas 2 and 3.
Alternatively, residents can drop off limbs and branches at one of the Essex Windsor Solid Waste Authority drop off depots in Windsor, Kingsville, and Essex. Size restrictions apply. Residents wishing to burn limbs and branches are reminded to do so safely. For information on burn permits and fire safety, please visit Lakeshore Fire Department’s Open Burning webpage.
