Categories

Student Artist Award: A $1000 award for outstanding promise and commitment in the arts, in any artistic discipline, to a student, under the age of 21, living and/or attending school in the Municipality of Lakeshore.

Creative Entrepreneur Award: A $1,000 award for a business, organization or individual located and/or operating in the Municipality of Lakeshore. Must demonstrate the impact of the nominee’s creative entrepreneurship on the Municipality of Lakeshore arts community. No age restriction.

Emerging Artist Award: A $1000 artistic merit award, for an emerging artist with 2 to 7 years of professional experience, in any artistic discipline, living and/or working in the Municipality of Lakeshore. Performance, visual, literary, media/new Media, and design. No age restriction.

Artistic Excellence Award: A $1000 artistic merit award for an artist living and/or working in the Municipality of Lakeshore in any artistic discipline. Must be able to demonstrate artistic excellence in their field through a body of work, public performance, exhibitions, and/or publications. No age restriction. 

Patron of the Arts Leadership Award:  A leadership award for a volunteer, educator, supporter, or business that volunteers or supports the arts in the Municipality of Lakeshore. Contribution(s) that demonstrate leadership in the community, dedication, support, and service to the arts community, through ongoing volunteer, service, or philanthropy. A $1,000 donation will be made to the award recipients' art organization (non-profit) of their choice.

Award Timelines

  • Awards open for submission
  • Launch and promotion of art awards

  • Submissions close

  • Panel of judges recommends a list of award recipients. Panel may include Lakeshore staff, including members of the Community Health and Safety Services Department, as well as a member of Mayor's Arts Awards Committee
  • List of recommendations are provided to the Mayor for endorsement

  • Awards reception hosted at the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre

Nomination Guidelines

  • Nominees may be self-nominated or nominated by a peer.
  • Nominees must live, work, volunteer, attend school, display or perform within the Municipality of Lakeshore.
  • A nominee may be nominated for only one award per awards cycle.
  • Municipality of Lakeshore staff members are not eligible for an award.

Nomination Requirements

  • Profile photo of the nominee and photo waiver
  • Complete online nomination form
  • Supporting documents attached to online nomination
  • Brief description (maximum 250 words) highlighting contributions.
  • Art resume/list of published works
  • Sample of nominee’s work (maximum five attached images)
