Beach Bus Summer Pilot Project Starts This Weekend

By-law increasing patrols for parking and park regulations

The Municipality of Lakeshore is pleased to announce the launch of the Beach Bus pilot project, offering free weekend shuttle service between the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre and Lakeview Park West Beach from June 20 to September 7, 2026.

“Our waterfront is a summer favourite for residents and visitors,” said Vanessa Stratton, Executive Director of Community Services. “As the area gets busier throughout the season, we’re excited to offer a more convenient way for everyone to enjoy the beach while improving traffic and safety in the area.”

The Beach Bus is intended to improve access to Lakeview Park West Beach while reducing parking pressure. It will also give Lakeshore the opportunity to assess ridership, community interest, and overall operational effectiveness throughout the 2026 summer season. The Beach Bus pilot project was approved by Council during the June 9, 2026, regular meeting (read the Report to Council).

The Beach Bus will operate rain or shine on Saturdays, Sundays, and holiday Mondays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The first shuttle will arrive at the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre at 10:00 AM, and the last shuttle will leave from Lakeview Park West Beach at 4:45 PM. Regular trips will run throughout the day between both locations.

Pick-up and drop-off locations are:

  • Atlas Tube Recreation Centre
Southwest corner of the parking lot
447 Renaud Line Road, Belle River
  • Lakeview Park West Beach
    River Street, Belle River
    In front of concession/washroom building

Residents and visitors are invited and encouraged to take advantage of this free service while enjoying Lakeview Park's waterfront amenities this summer.

Lakeshore is also asking visitors to only park vehicles in municipal parking lots. Throughout the summer, Lakeshore’s By-law Compliance Officers will be conducting weekend patrols of Lakeview Park, West Beach, and other popular destinations. By-law officers will be enforcing parking regulations and addressing other park-related offences, including:

  • The use of BBQs, which are prohibited under Lakeshore’s Open Burning By-law.
  • Vaping and smoking, including cigarettes/e-cigarettes, hookahs, and water pipes, which are prohibited under Lakeshore’s Parks By-law.
  • The use of motorized vehicles, including ATVs, dirt bikes, as well as battery-powered bikes and scooters, which are prohibited under Lakeshore’s Parks By-law.
