Canada Post Strike Delaying Delivery of Lakeshore Water Bills

Property owners are encouraged to sign up for electronic billing and use alternate payment methods for water bills until regular mail service resumes.

On September 25, 2025, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) launched a national strike.

According to the Canada Post website, mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered for the duration of the national strike, and some post offices will be closed. No new items will be accepted until the national disruption is over.

Due to the postal strike, delivery by mail of upcoming water bills to Lakeshore property owners will be delayed.

October bills (Area 2, Manning Road to Rochester Townline, not including Belle River urban area) may not be delivered. Depending on the length of the strike, November and December bills could potentially be delayed.

If water bills are not delivered, property owners are still responsible for payment.

To ensure customers have access to their water billing information, Lakeshore has several convenient alternatives:

  • Sign up for electronic billing online at Lakeshore.ca/Ebilling. Customers who sign up for electronic billing will receive their bills by email.

  • Sign up for a Pre-authorized Payment Plan to have bill amounts automatically withdrawn from a bank account. Sign up for a Pre-authorized Payment Plan online at Lakeshore.ca/PAP.

  • For individuals who do not want to sign up for electronic billing or pre-authorized payments, billing information can be provided over the phone at 519-728-2700.

  • For property owners who have already mailed cheques, please contact the Revenue Division to confirm if they have been received. If the cheques have not been delivered, payment must be made before the due date to avoid penalties.

  • Property owners can also pick up a printed copy of their water bills at the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre or, beginning October 8, at Lakeshore Town Hall during regular business hours (8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday).

Mailed correspondence (not sent through a private courier) will not be received by the municipality. Correspondence can be sent via email. To find out how to email specific departments or divisions, please contact the Public Service Unit at PublicService@Lakeshore.ca or 519-728-2700.
