Council Approves Stoney Point Community Park Tender
Project to cost $4.9 million, targeted to reopen Summer 2026
At the meeting on September 23, 2025, Lakeshore Council approved the tender for the construction of Stoney Point Community Park, which is expected to be completed in time to host Lakeshore’s 2026 Canada Day celebrations.
The project will include a new splash pad and playground, upgraded washroom and pavilion, natural play area, shade structure, exercise nodes, rehabilitated skate park, new basketball, pickleball, and tennis courts, additional asphalt parking areas and pathways, as well as improvements to the toboggan hill.
Council approved Option 1 (Appendix A) of the proposed plan. The costs related to tree planting will be funded from Lakeshore’s tree planting program. Read the Report to Council online.
“We know Stoney Point/Pointe-aux-Roches residents have been eagerly awaiting the reconstruction of this park, and we are thrilled to see it move forward. The plan is a product of years of community input, and we appreciate everyone who took the time to share their vision,” said Mayor Tracey Bailey.
Under Lakeshore’s Parks Master Plan, the park is categorized as a “Community Park.” Community Parks lie at the hearts of Lakeshore’s communities and provide year-round access to amenities.
“This isn’t just an investment in a park. Now, more than ever, community members are looking for affordable and accessible spaces to gather and connect. This is an investment in our communities, accessibility, and the health and well-being of our residents,” Mayor Bailey added.
Barrineti Construction Ltd. was the winning bidder. The total cost of the project will be $4,972,913.43, including applicable HST. Construction is expected to start in 2025.
