Council Meeting Summary: April 9, 2024

The following is a summary of issues and matters that Council dealt with at the meeting held on April 9, 2024. A video recording of the meeting will also be posted at Lakeshore.ca/TV 

These highlights are not official minutes of the meeting and are meant solely for general communications. The approved minutes are the only official record of Council Proceedings and decisions.  

Council: 

• Approved a crossing guard location at Oakwood Avenue and Magnolia Drive effective September 2024, in the amount of $4,500.00 to be funded from the 2024 crossing guard budget. 

• Approved By-law 45-2024 to authorize the execution of a Subdivision Agreement with the Owner, 2869614 Ontario Inc., for the Patillo Road Industrial Subdivision.  

• Approved the recommendation to the OPP Detachment Board (North) for the administration and financial components and endorsed the Town of Tecumseh’s selection of Christopher Hales as the at-large representative for the remainder of 2024. 

• Approved the recommended 2024 Roads Rehabilitation Program as identified in the report based on the approved budget amount of $6,745,200.00 and delegated authority to the Mayor and Clerk to award the tender, with advice and recommendation from the Corporate Leader – Operations. 

• Approved the following financial policies: 

  • Relationship with External Auditors Policy (By-law 42-2024) 

  • Internal Controls Policy (By-law 43-2024) 

  • Internal Controls Financial Reporting Policy (By-law 44-2024)  

• Accepted the grant funding for the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations from Aviva Canada’s Charged for Change grant program to be placed at both the ATRC and Lakeview Park in the amount of $125,000.00; and approved the additional budget of $8,245.00 to be funded from the Facilities/Properties – New reserve for the shortfall. 

• Directed Administration to prepare a summary report of the Parks Master Plan regarding the status of each park, the order of the reconditioning of the parks, and the lifecycle management plan for the amenities in the parks. 

• Provisionally adopted the following by-laws pursuant to the Drainage Act: 

  • By-law 39-2024 for the Mary Walker Drain 

  • By-law 40-2024 for the Bridge Over the Seguin Drain for Hydro One Networks 

  • By-law 41-2024 for the Rochester Tilbury North Townline Road Drain No. 1
