Council Meeting Summary: January 13, 2026
The following is a brief recap of the main issues and matters that Council dealt with at the meeting held on January 13, 2026. A video recording of the meeting will also be posted at Lakeshore.ca/TV.
These highlights are not official minutes of the meeting and are meant solely for the purpose of general communications. The approved minutes provide the only official record of Council Proceedings and decisions.
Council:

Approved Zoning By-law Amendment Application ZBA-12-2025 (Zoning By-law 2012, as amended), to rezone the lands municipally known as 2567 County Road 27, and legally described as Part of Lot 24, Concession 1; Maidstone, designated as Part 2 on Plan 12R2192, being all of the Property Identifier Number 75021-0122(LT), from “Hamlet Commercial (HC)” to “Hamlet Residential (HR)”.

Received the 2025 Council Meetings and Closed Meeting Annual Report for information only.

Approved the 2026 User Fees.

Directed that members of Administration be limited to a maximum of two conferences per year, except if approved by the Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer to attend an additional conference to assist in a meeting or presentation to senior levels of government.

Directed Administration to prepare and present no later than March 2026 and quarterly thereafter, a tracker of all funded, yet pending, capital projects on record. The document is to include budget year approved, expected start date, anticipated completion date, reason for delays, and any other details pertinent to the capital item.

Directed Administration to prepare and post a Request for Proposal for detailed design of the sewage transfer line servicing Belle River.

Directed Administration to limit the detail design of the east end mechanical treatment plant to address infilling only with no expansion to lands currently unserviced in surrounding communities ie St.Joachim, Deerbrook, Lighthouse Cove etc.; and further directed Administration to present a funding model for Council’s consideration for the east end wastewater mechanical treatment plant and associated transfer lines and pumps, to be presented to Council no later then the March 24, 2026 meeting.
