Improvements Coming to Stoney Point Library Site

Permanent Facility to be Presented for Consideration at Future Budget Meetings

At the meeting on May 26, 2026, Lakeshore Council approved $380,000 in new spending to improve the site that hosts the temporary Stoney Point Library branch.

The work will include restoring the lot of the site of the former Stoney Point Tavern, which was purchased by Lakeshore in 2023. The remaining area will be repaved for use as a parking lot for both the library branch and Stoney Point Community Park. Read the full Report to Council online.

“This is another step in the right direction for Stoney Point/Pointe-aux-Roches. As a Council, we know how important the library branch is to community members, and we are glad to continue to invest in the facility. As we get ready to reopen the newly renovated Stoney Point Community Park on Canada Day, we’re also looking forward to the return of the library branch that will strengthen the sense of community and place that Pointe-aux-Roches residents have been advocating for.
-Mayor Tracey Bailey

Council also directed Administration to include options for a permanent library and community hub facility for consideration in a future budget and once wastewater infrastructure capacity becomes available. At the meeting of May 14, 2026, Council approved over $69 million in funding, starting in 2027, to replace the Stoney Point Sewage Lagoons which serve Lakeshore’s eastern communities, including Comber and Stoney Point/Pointe-aux-Roches.

With work expected to begin at the site shortly, the Stoney Point Library Branch will be temporarily closed.
