Lakeshore Expands Frontline Public Service with Weekend Staffing
Lakeshore is expanding access to municipal customer service through a new seven-day Public Service Unit model.
To provide residents with more flexible ways to access support, Lakeshore’s Public Service Unit is now available for in-person service at the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre (ATRC) and over the phone seven days per week.
Public Service Representatives can submit requests on behalf of residents and answer questions about a wide range of municipal programs and services, including tax and water bill inquiries, missed garbage collections, damaged roads and parks reports, and facility feedback.
“Increasing access to Lakeshore’s dedicated frontline service team gives residents greater flexibility to engage with the municipality. We know that our residents lead incredibly busy lives, and this change will ensure they can contact Lakeshore when it is most convenient for them,” said Mayor Tracey Bailey. “Council and I are thrilled to see the Public Service Unit grow and adapt in response to the service expectations of our residents.”
The expanded service levels are being introduced using existing resources and within the current operating budget, with no new costs to taxpayers. The enhanced model, in combination with other recent policy and technology improvements, continues to make Lakeshore a local leader in resident-centred service.
This enhancement is part of Council’s 2022-2026 Strategic Objectives, which committed to improving the resident experience. By expanding the Public Service Unit’s capacity to respond to a wider range of inquiries and requests, Lakeshore aims to provide more consistent, accessible, and responsive service—while resolving more questions at the first point of contact.
The expanded service level supports Lakeshore’s approved Customer Service Standards and ongoing efforts to deliver high-quality service to all residents. Lakeshore also recently launched a new Development Hub, an interactive tool that provides real-time information on construction and development activity happening through the municipality.
Residents can contact the Public Service Unit by phone at 519-728-2700 and by email at PublicService@Lakeshore.ca. The Public Service Unit continues to provide in-person services at Lakeshore Town Hall from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Residents can also directly submit service requests and problems related to municipal infrastructure, facilities, and programs online at Lakeshore.ca/ReportAProblem.
