Lakeshore Hosts Canines and Community Members at the ATRC Dog Park Grand Opening

The Municipality of Lakeshore officially opened the new ATRC Dog Park at the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre on Wednesday, September 23, welcoming local dogs, their owners, and community members to celebrate the new outdoor space. 

The grand opening included remarks and a ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Tracey Bailey, members of Council, and staff, as well as residents and their canine companions. 

“This new dog park is an awesome addition to the incredible grounds of the ATRC and offers a dedicated outdoor place where dogs can stretch their legs, enjoy some off-leash fun, and make new friends,” said Mayor Tracey Bailey. “But it is not just dogs making friends. Like out many other incredible parks, this will be a place to make connections and build community, and we could not be more excited.” 

The one-acre dog park, located in the northeast corner of the ATRC property, includes eight new parking spaces, two accessible parking spaces, a dedicated small dog area, a dog-bowl and water-bottle filling station, new landscaping and trees, as well as complimentary dog waste bags. 

“We continue to ask our visitors to respect and protect public parks like this one,” Mayor Bailey added. “Help us keep it clean and safe by picking up after your pets, following the rules, reporting issues, and treating this space like it is your own backyard.”
