Purpose

The purpose of the Public Meeting is to consider a proposed amendment to the 2025 Lakeshore Community Improvement Plan for Housing and Main Streets and Rural Economic Development.

The proposed amendment would add Program 7: Brownfield Redevelopment Program under Section 5.1 – Incentive Programs for Housing. The program is intended to support the remediation, rehabilitation, and redevelopment of brownfield sites for new housing throughout the Municipality and includes the following funding streams:

  • Environmental Study Grant
  • Feasibility Study Grant
  • Application Fee Grant/Rebate
  • Forgivable Loan / Capital Grant for Housing

Council Meeting

October 6, 2026, at 6:00 PM, or as practical thereafter.

Meeting Location

This will be a hybrid meeting with limited in-person attendance at Town Hall (419 Notre Dame Street, Belle River, Ontario, N8L 0P8).

Notice of Public Meeting

Take notice that Council for the Municipality of Lakeshore will be holding a Public Meeting under Section 28 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.13, to consider an amendment to the 2025 Lakeshore Community Improvement Plan for Housing and Main Streets and Rural Economic Development.

Additional information relating to this matter is available for review at the Municipal Office during regular office hours (Town Hall, 419 Notre Dame Street, Belle River, Ontario).

The proposed amendment and supporting materials will also be available on the Municipality of Lakeshore website and as part of the Council agenda.

Submissions

Any person may make written representation in support of or in opposition to the proposed amendment. Written submissions regarding the proposed application may be directed to:

Any person wishing to make a verbal submission must register to speak at Lakeshore.ca/Delegations.

If a person or public body would otherwise have an ability to appeal the decision of the Municipality of Lakeshore to the Ontario Land Tribunal, but does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or written submissions to the Municipal Clerk of the Municipality of Lakeshore before the proposed amendment is passed, that person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or written submissions to the Municipal Clerk of the Municipality of Lakeshore before the proposed amendment is passed, that person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
