The testing is expected to start the week of October 20, 2025, weather permitting.
The testing will take place along St. Clair Road from Tecumseh Road through to Tremblay Beach Conservation Area, Hale Street, Ball Street, Reed Street, Maple Street, Elm Street, Oak Street, Columbus Drive, Cook Court, Waterfront Lane, Sunset View Lane, Gagnier Lane, Oriet Street, Beune Street, Bushey Street, South Wind Court, Beach Court, Parkview Lane and Comber Side Road.
Impacted properties have been sent a letter regarding the testing process and what is required. Residents in the area are asked to fill floor drains and rarely used sinks with one pail of water prior to the start of testing.
About Smoke Testing
Smoke testing uses a white, non-toxic vapour to identify potential cracks, gaps, and connections where inflow and infiltration (I&I) of rainwater or groundwater is entering the sanitary sewer system. Identifying and repairing I&I sources, in both public and private infrastructure systems, is part of ongoing efforts to reduce sanitary wastewater treatment costs and basement flooding in Lakeshore.
