Team Lakeshore Gives Back for the Holidays

In the lead-up to Christmas this year, Lakeshore staff members hosted and supported several initiatives to raise funds and goods for community members in need.

Lakeshore’s Social Committee hosted their annual Holiday Help Out, which saw staff donate money towards the purchase of toys, gift cards, and more for a local family in need. The campaign included donations from both CUPE and IBEW and raised nearly $1,400!

Lakeshore firefighters have also been as busy as Santa’s Elves

  • Sparky’s Toy Drive, an annual community event, garnered over $9,000 worth of toy and monetary donations that will go to 35 local families

  • Firefighters hit the streets in November for the annual Belle River-Rochester and Essex-Tecumseh Goodfellows newspaper campaigns.

  • In December, a group of firefighters and their family members helped give soup to those in need at the Soup Shack in Windsor.

  • This month, firefighters also helped pack groceries as part of an annual fundraiser at the local Sobey’s. The campaign has already raised $5,400, including a matching donation from Sobey’s.

“It is great to see our staff go above and beyond to support local fundraisers and residents in need. These initiatives are a reminder that while staff serve the municipality as part of their regular duties, they are often volunteers and engaged citizens who care about helping others,” said Mayor Tracey Bailey. “On behalf of Council and our residents, I would like to thank all of them for their commitment to our communities!”
