Fire Prevention Week 2025 in Lakeshore

These open houses will give attendees the chance to learn fire prevention, meet local firefighters, and check out fire trucks and equipment.  

This year’s FPW campaign, “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,” works to educate everyone about how to properly use Lithium-Ion Batteries. The campaign stresses how important it is to BUY, CHARGE, and RECYCLE safely. 

“This year’s Fire Prevention Week is especially important as it highlights the need for safe handling and disposal of Lithium-Ion batteries, which continues to be a growing cause of residential fires,” said Lakeshore Fire Chief Jason Suchiu. “We look forward to opening our fire station doors and welcoming visitors of all ages to learn from our many knowledgeable firefighters. 

“Fire Prevention Week reminds us how essential fire safety is and highlights the important work our firefighters do every day,” said Mayor Tracey Bailey. “I encourage everyone to stop by one of our five fire stations in Lakeshore to learn practical tips on how to protect yourself, your family, and your home!” 

During the week, firefighters will also visit all ten grade schools in Lakeshore to teach students about fire safety, the importance of smoke alarms, and what to do in an emergency.
