Lakeshore's People

Approximately 60% of our population is between the ages of 25-64 with post-secondary, certificates or degrees. In 2015, Lakeshore's highly skilled and educated workforce had an average household income of $119,754.

There are world-class education and research facilities available at the University of Windsor and St. Clair College including the Ford Centre for Excellence, all in close proximity to Lakeshore.

Accelerating Enjoyment

Lakeshore's communities foster a lifestyle of friendship, harmony, personal enrichment and professional excellence.

The Town of Lakeshore has over 17,000 private dwellings, a high standard of living, temperate climate and a region overflowing with cultural events, festivals, major league sports action and world-renown entertainment both here and in neighbouring Detroit.

Lakeshore features a diverse economy with strong focus in automotive and auto parts manufacturing, as well as both solar and wind renewable energy, food processing and cross-border operations.

Quality of Life

Interested in living on the water? In Lakeshore, waterfront property is affordable. We even have a unique community in Lighthouse Cove where every home has canal/water access to the river and lake.

Want fewer neighbours? We have rural communities for you.

Like urban neighbourhoods and being close to everything? We have that too.

Want to be active?

Lakeshore's Atlas Tube Centre is a 200,000 square foot $62 m multi-use recreation facility with 3 NHL sized ice pads, gymnasium, library, indoor track, community rooms, dance studio and aquatic facility with lazy river, 4 lane lap pool, zero entry pool and therapeutic pool. Outside the facility there are over 20 soccer fields, splash pad, 5 km trail, tennis courts and multi-purpose courts.

Lakeshore has 40 parks, 11 of them on our waterfront. Our feature waterfront park, Lakeview Park includes a splash pad, largest beach on the south shore of Lake St. Clair, amphitheatre, playground, concession, change rooms, BBQ's, multi-use court and other amenities. During the summer months you can enjoy free concerts and movies for children in the park. Lakeshore's Belle River Marina joins the park's amenities.

Lakeshore Contracts with the OPP for Police Protection in the Municipality
The OPP conducts preventative policing programs including in-school programs and are dedicated to preserving the quality of life and security enjoyed by the community keeping Lakeshore in the top safest communities in Ontario.
Fire Services
Lakeshore is served by five fire stations situated throughout the municipality and are equipped to handle all major (and minor) threats to life and property. Lakeshore Fire is part of the local 911 system.
