The back-to-school season has arrived, and the Municipality of Lakeshore is reminding residents to prioritize safety to and from school this year.

The Municipality of Lakeshore has launched a survey regarding the use of shipping containers (often referred to as Sea Cans), in response to both by-law complaints and a growing interest towards use for residential and commercial purposes.

On August 21, 2025, Council and community members gathered at Lakeview Park – West Beach in Belle River for the official unveiling of a new accessible kayak and canoe launch. 

The Lakeshore Fire Department will be conducting live search and rescue training near the intersection of Rourke Line Road and County Road 22 on August 18, 19, 20, 26, and 27 from approximately 6:00PM to 9:30 PM and August 25 from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM.

The future of housing in Lakeshore was the focus of Council’s agenda at the regular meeting on August 12, 2025.

Senior housing and community space to be explored 

In the lead up to the long weekend, Lakeshore is reminding park visitors to follow rules around barbeques and cooking fires.

The site meetings for proposed drainage projects on East Puce Road, Major Street, and Lilydale Avenue, originally scheduled for August 11 and 13, 2025, have been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
