Lakeshore Takes Next Step on County Road 22 Sewer Expansion
Council approves RFP for engineering and design services to support the construction of County Road 22 Sanitary Sewer Trunk Main
Lakeshore Council has awarded the Request for Proposal (RFP) for professional services, design and engineering for the County Road 22 Sewer Expansion Project.
The tender, awarded to Jacobs Consultancy Canada Inc., is the next step for this critical infrastructure project that will help unlock housing capacity, reduce basement flooding and support long-term residential, commercial and industrial expansion. The contracted services will support the design of Conveyance Group 2 (Denis St. Pierre Water Pollution Control Plant to the County Road 22/County Road 2 Roundabout) and Conveyance Group 1 (County Road 22/County Road 2 Roundabout to East Pike Creek), which were established in Lakeshore’s 2024 Water and Wastewater Master Plan.
The County Road 22 Sewer Expansion Project is being supported by $36.8 million in funding from the Government of Canada (Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund) and $32.3 million in funding from the Government of Ontario (Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program’s Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund). The project is estimated to cost $92 million, including design and construction.
The total cost of the RFP was approximately $13.8 million, with Lakeshore committing $3.2 million. A full breakdown of the project costs and grant funding sources can be found in the Report to Council.
