During snow events, priority is given to higher travelled roads as well as Emergency routes. This means that subdivision roads are plowed after the main roads are clear.
Please be patient, we will get to your area as soon as we can.
We adhere to Ontario's Minimum Maintenance Standards for Municipal Highways when planning snow plow routes.
Snow Safety Tips
Help keep roads safe for plow operators and other road users with these top tips:
- Park vehicles in driveways and off local roads whenever possible. It is unlawful under Section 170 (12) of the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, which states: “Despite the other provisions of this section, no person shall park or stand a vehicle on a highway in such a manner as to interfere with the movement of traffic or the clearing of snow from the highway.” If vehicles are blocking the roadway, Lakeshore staff may request vehicles be towed at the owner's expense.
- Keep garbage and recycle bins on your lawn and off the roads. Ensure they are visible from the road.
- Maintain a safe driving distance from all snow plows and service vehicles.
- Refrain from shovelling snow onto roads.

Unfortunately, from time-to-time, our snow plows do damage rural mailboxes. The Municipality of Lakeshore is happy to provide a replacement mailbox free of charge. Contact our offices to let us know if this occurs.
