Hazardous Waste

The Municipality of Lakeshore does not accept any Hazardous Waste products including Household Chemical Waste or Electronic Waste, including batteries. Visit EWSWA.ca to find a Drop Off Depot near you.

Household Chemical Waste

Household Chemical Waste materials are harmful to humans, animals and the environment, as well as begin the leading cause of water pollution in North America.

Prevent this by using the Hazardous Chemical Waste Depot through the Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority Drop-Off Locations to safely drop off any hazardous products that you no longer can use.

Just grab a cardboard box and set aside any household hazardous materials (in their original container) that you no longer need. When the box is full, drop it off at one of EWSWA’s Depots - free of charge.

Customers can drop off two 20 litre pails (2 x 20L) of hazardous waste per visit to an EWSWA Depot.

Electronic Waste

Electronic waste (e-waste) is the fastest growing source of waste in North America. Unfortunately, these electronics are filling up landfills fast.

Lead, cadmium and mercury are found in most electronic equipment, making them a hazardous risk to human health and the environment if they are not disposed of properly.

Note: Lithium-ion batteries can be a fire hazard and should NEVER be placed out for curbside collection (garbage, yard waste, green bin, or recycling). Lithium-ion batteries should always be dropped off at an EWSWA Depot (for free) to be recycled and disposed of properly.

EC Computers in Belle River accepts the following electronics for recycling. They also provide a complimentary data wipe to destroy any personal information that may reside on hard drives. Electronics are accepted whether they are working or not. Electronic Waste such as the following can be accepted:
