Town Hall Renovations

Lakeshore front-end services will officially return to Town Hall as of October 8.

Construction is now complete at Lakeshore’s newly-renovated Town Hall, and the building will reopen to residents and visitors on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 8:30 AM.

The renovated space improves the visitor experience by expanding frontline customer service areas. The renovation also added an accessible washroom, meeting room, and office space for Lakeshore staff.

Starting October 8, the following services will return to Town Hall (419 Notre Dame Street, Belle River):

  • Revenue Services (property tax and water billing, payments, account inquiries)
  • Planning & Building Services (planning/zoning applications, building permits, inspections)
  • Legislative Services (marriage and lottery licensing, FOI requests)

All services will be accessible from the main Town Hall entrance at the corner of 8th Street and Notre Dame. A Public Service Representative will be located at the main entrance to respond to inquiries and direct visitors to service windows.

Lakeshore’s Public Service Unit (PSU) is the municipality’s front line of customer service. The PSU is available in-person (at Town Hall and the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre) as well as by phone (519-728-2700) and email (PublicService@Lakeshore.ca).

Operational Changes

By-law Services

  • Lakeshore's By-law Division will continue to operate out of the Atlas Tube Recreation Centre. Residents may request an appointment with a By-law Officer or submit a complaint through the Public Service Unit for follow-up by an Officer. Please note that anonymous submissions will not be accepted.

Council meetings

  • As of February 4, 2025, Council meetings will return to Lakeshore Town Hall (419 Notre Dame). Ongoing construction will have the following impact on Council meeting attendees and delegates:
    • Council Chambers will only be accessible via the northeast door off Eighth Street at the north of the building. The main entrance remains closed to the public.
    • Parking is in the north lot (Eighth Street and Lavoie Street) for Council attendees and delegates.
    • While air quality testing returned safe results, construction dust and odour is expected. Individuals with allergies or other sensitivities may be affected.
    • The accessible elevator will not be available until the facility returns to full operation.
    • Meetings will continue to be streamed online at Lakeshore.ca/TV
  • Lakeshore asks that Council attendees and spectators abide by all posted construction signage to ensure their safety.
