Water, Wastewater, and Bulk Water Rates and Fees

Monthly Charge

For both water and wastewater, all residential, institutional, commercial, and industrial customers will pay a fixed monthly charge and then a volumetric charge based on the amount of water used each month. This blending of fixed and usage charges is intended to continue to promote water conservation by continuing to give the customer control of their bills by reducing their monthly usage. The basic charge is also intended to reduce the cost of the usage rate in an effort to keep bills more consistent in cost.

Consumption per cubic meter

The water consumption per cubic meter stated on your bill is the amount of water per cubic meter that ran through the meter during the billing period.

In accordance with Section 3.2 of the Regulation of Water Supply By-law, wastewater charges shall be charged in the same manner as the water consumption determined by the water meter reading.

Wastewater Charge

The wastewater charge on your bill is based on the amount of water used, as the water ends up as wastewater. The charge covers all the costs associated with the wastewater discharged including the transportation, treatment and infrastructure that maintain current standards for our water.

Bulk Water Fill Stations

Water from bulk water fill stations within the Municipality of Lakeshore is charged at per 1000 gal  (4.546 cubic meters) rate (rate outlined in above User Fees).
