Every year the Municipality of Lakeshore hires a number of post-secondary students for summer job positions.
General Eligibility Requirements
- 16 years of age or older as of May 2, 2022
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Be enrolled in a full-time program in a secondary or post-secondary educational institution in the Fall of 2022
- Available for typical work term: Summer positions are hired from May to late August or early September (some positions vary)
- Regular work hours vary depending on position
- Hold a valid Driver's License (some positions may vary)

By-Law Enforcement Co-Op |
Reporting to the Division Leader – By Law Services the By Law Co-op student is responsible for assisting in the Municipality’s compliance with municipal bylaws. |
Communications & Civic Engagement Co-Op |
Reporting to the Team Leader – Civic Engagement, this position will provide support to the Civic Affairs Division of the Municipality of Lakeshore. The student will be exposed to aspects of implementing communications programs as well as activities regarding civic engagement, planning, media inquiries, public relations, corporate website and social media engagement, advertising, branding and marketing, internal communications, public survey methods and citizen consultation practices, civic engagement and emergency communications. |
Workforce Development Co-Op |
Reporting to the Division Leader – Workforce Development, the Workforce Development Co-op student is responsible for assisting with the general duties of Workforce Development including special projects, coordinating interviews, preparing presentation materials preparing spreadsheets of information for HRIS implementation and other duties as assigned. |
Information Technology Analyst Co-Op |
Reporting to the Division Leader – Digital Transformation & Cloud Services, the IT Analyst Co-op student is responsible for assisting in providing technical support to end users, maintenance of systems including hardware, software, network, telephony, peripherals, office equipment, mobile devices, and related infrastructure. |
Marina, Dock Hand- General Labour |
Reporting to the Team Leader – Recreation, the Student Dock Hand is responsible for general operations of the municipal marina by assisting in the arrivals and departures of boats while maintaining a safe and clean environment and assisting customers in a courteous manner. |
Parks- General Labour |
Reporting to the Team Leader – Parks and Trails, this position is responsible for performing general maintenance duties at parks, parkettes, sport fields and beaches while ensuring attractive, orderly and healthy parks areas in order to provide a pleasant outdoor environment for all. |
Planning Co-Op |
Reporting to the Division Leader – Community Planning, this position will provide planning support to the Growth and Sustainability Division of the Municipality of Lakeshore. The Planning Co-op student will be exposed to aspects of planning, including assistance with development applications and long range planning projects. |
Public Works- General Labour |
Reporting to the Team Leader – Roads and Fleet, this position is responsible for working in a team environment performing a variety of construction, maintenance, repair work and general labour duties of the Operations Division. |
Water Distribution- General Labour |
Reporting to the Team Leader – Water, this position is responsible for assisting in the day to day operations and maintenance of the municipality’s water distribution plant. |
Water Treatment- General Labour |
Reporting to the Team Leader – Water, this position is responsible for assisting in the day to day operations and maintenance of the municipality’s water treatment plants and associated pump stations, reservoirs and water towers. |
