Green for Life (GFL) collects garbage and yard waste on behalf of the Municipality and the Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority (EWSWA) provides recycling services for the Municipality. To find out when your collection dates are, please refer to the collection calendar.

If you have questions or concerns with respect to your garbage or yard waste, contact us at 519-728-2488.

Should you have questions or concerns regarding your recycle pick-up, contact the EWSWA directly at 1-800-265-9625 or email ask@ewswa.org.

2023 Garbage and Recycling Calendar

If you require a new collection calendar or have any questions about garbage, recycling, or yard waste contact us.

Want to know what can be put in your recycle? Do you want to receive collection reminders on your mobile phone? Download the recycle coach app on your Android or Apple device.

Unsure why your recycle collection was missed?  Look for the "OOPS" Sticker

Top 4 Recycling Blunders:

  1. Plastic Bags - there has been a ban on plastic bags in recycle collection since June 1, 2020
  2. Cardboard Size - cardboard boxes must be empty and no larger than 30"h x 30"w x 30"d (nesting recommended)
  3. Separating - ensure containers are in a separate bin than paper items
  4. Timing - recycle bins should be placed at the curb the night before collection (any bins placed out after 6am on collection day will not be collected)

White Goods

White Goods such as metal items, hot water tanks, bbqs, bathtubs, sinks, fridges, ranges, etc. are collected monthly free of charge. To arrange for White Goods collection, please contact Green For Life/GFL at 519-944-8009.
