Emergency Preparedness Week 2024 Coming Up in Lakeshore

May 5 to 11 is Emergency Preparedness Week, an annual event dedicated to ensuring you and your family are prepared for emergencies. In Ontario, this year’s theme is “Be Prepared. Know Your Risks.”
“Knowing local risks is the first step toward being prepared in any emergency,” said Lakeshore Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Pulleyblank. “By understanding risks, you can prepare to take action to protect yourself and your family for the worst-case scenario.”

Prescribed Burn Coming Up in Stoney Point/Pointe-aux-Roches

Update: The planned prescribed burn will be rescheduled. Additional communications will be published closer to the new date.
A prescribed burn of invasive Phragmites is scheduled to be conducted next week at the Stoney Point sewage lagoons (south of Tremblay Beach Conservation Area).
The Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA), which operates the facility on behalf of the Municipality of Lakeshore, will conduct the burn and the Lakeshore Fire Department is aware of the plans.

Lakeshore and CUPE Reach New Collective Agreement

The Municipality of Lakeshore has reached a collective agreement with workers in the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 702.4, after Council endorsed the agreement on April 9, 2024, and the union ratified the agreement on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
The agreement, which affects a wide range of Lakeshore’s full- and part-time staff, will be in effect until the end of 2026.
